March 2026 Challenge: Results!

My chosen palette for March!

A warm and hearty thank you goes out to all of those who decided to try challenging yourselves with us at Blueberry! Leaving your comfort zone and trying new color combinations isn’t always easy. Sometimes it doesn’t turn out the way you planned for better or worse, the point is you’re trying! Variety is the spice of life after all!

For this project I decided to do something a little bit different. I love shaped beads and I love beaded beads and other small components. One of my favorite things to do is to make a bunch in varying combinations of similar or complementary colors and match them with other beads for stringing. Being able to finish a beaded bead in a few minutes is good for both time management and fulfillment.

The finished piece! Ta-Da!

I’m fairly familiar with a lot of beaded bead patterns. I used a lot from Nela Kabelova since she is one of my favorite designers from the Matubo website. I tried my best to use beads I already owned, but relented when I found the right blue superduo. That’s ok! Having the right color is also important.

The nice thing about stringing is how easy it is to unstring and redo whatever you’re working on. It can be very enjoyable to change and rearrange your ensemble on a whim and discover if something unexpected ends up pleasing to the eye. When bead weaving, if you decide you don’t like it, it’s much more difficult to change it.

Here’s my bead pile before stringing everything up!

I got some pictures of some of the other ones this month. Yay! This is done by one of our Blueberry Beads people JB! Not only did she craft this really cool looking set of swirls but she also made the toggle clasp out of beads! If you’re sensitive to metals, this is a really clever way to keep potential irritation away.

Check out this funky design!

These cute little three dimensional pods are so adorable!

These two both chose this one as their palette of choice.
